How does rebounding work?

Hello,

Lately, many users have been asking questions about rebounds. We would like to share more information about how rebounding work.

How do rebounds work?

BasketPulse deflectionsWhat skills are the most important?

The biggest influence on the rebounding is caused by:
- Rebounding skill
- Strength
- Jumping
- Height

All players are involved in the fight for the ball. If the players are not able to defend their direct opponents, it will make it difficult for the whole team to fight for the ball.

We often see situations where the PG - SF position players are inferior to the opponents in the most important rebounding skills and as a result the team loses the rebounding battle (although the C - PF skills are similar).

Basketpulse stealsHow to increase chances of getting a rebound?

The chances of a defensive rebound are higher when focusing on the low post defense. Meanwhile, a team that emphasizes low post offense or fighting for the rebounds as much as possible will have a higher chance of getting the ball under the opponent's basket.

On the other hand, fouls, especially when fighting for the ball, force players to play more cautiously, so you should consider what tactics are useful for your team.

Does the better team always get more rebounds?

Sometimes there are situations when the team that fought better for the boards gets less rebounds than their opponents because they missed significantly fewer shots than the opposing team.

On the other hand, there are situations when similar-level teams are playing, due to the combination of several factors, one of the teams wins the battle for the balls by a landslide.

From now on, in the test engine, about 40% of the defensive rebounds will be won by the defending team, regardless of other criteria.

CHANGES MADE IN THE TEST ENGINE

1. In the last attack the ball goes to the point guard - in order to have better chances to avoid losing it in case of pressure.
2. Bug fix: wrong player with the ball after event “gained a loose ball”.
3. More chances to get defensive rebound despite criteria.
4. A bit increased chances for rebound, when Defence Focus or Offence Focus is low post.
5. A bit decreased committed fouls influence when fighting for defensive rebounds.
6. In close range usually bigger players are fighting for rebound. However we reduced this effect for distant rebound.
7. Bug fix: fixed missing back court inbounding scenarios in the 4th quarter and overtimes.
