The 1st Taiwan Super Cup Results Revealed

The inaugural Taiwan Super Cup BP Basketball Championship, featuring 25 Taiwanese teams, concluded on Day 52 after two weeks of intense competition. In the championship game, the White Wolves (WL2) faced off against the Typhoons (WL3). Despite being the heavy favorites, the Alaska Canis lupus arctos committed critical technical errors during the decisive match, resulting in a 20-point deduction. The final score was 85-74, with the Taiwan Typhoons dramatically claiming the championship.

Plot twist

To ensure fair competition among teams of different levels, rules were established at the outset, including restrictions on players' RT and a requirement for players to play at least 10 minutes per game. Any team that had a player on the court for less than 10 minutes and won the game would incur a 10-point deduction. The Alaska Canis lupus arctos, with the deepest bench depth among all participating teams, had set their sights on the championship from the outset. While they easily advanced to the final as expected, a serious error in lineup selection during the championship game resulted in two players being on the court for less than 5 minutes. Despite a final score of 94-85 in favor of the Alaska Canis lupus arctos, a 20-point deduction according to the rules led to them relinquishing the 1000 credits championship prize to the Taiwan Typhoons, with the Alaska Canis lupus arctos receiving a 500 credits silver medal prize.

Bronze medal game

In the bronze medal game, the MumiMumiJump (WL2) faced the Unsweetened Oolong Tea (WL3) in a low-scoring defensive battle. With brilliant defense, the Unsweetened Oolong Tea held the MumiMumiJump to nearly no points in the 2nd half and used a 10-0 run in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead, ultimately winning 61-45 and securing the bronze medal along with a 300-credit prize.

Suggestions for the future

In summary of this tournament, although RT restrictions were in place, the top four teams were still all from higher-level WL2 and WL3 leagues, suggesting that higher-level teams may have coaching advantages. As this was the first edition of the tournament, how to make the strengths of teams at different levels more balanced in the future is a subject that must be studied.

Regarding the scheduling of matches, the inability to set match times for additional matches has made it difficult to control the schedule. It is hoped that the administrators can consider adding a date/time selection option on the page for inviting additional matches.

Additionally, this competition has also demonstrated users' high interest in cup competitions outside of regular matches, especially in the latter half of the season when teams no longer face promotion or relegation pressure. Perhaps the administrators can introduce a new feature for self-built cup competitions in future game updates, allowing individual users or federations to freely set various conditions to create cup competitions. This not only enhances the diversity and fun of the game but also increases the game's revenue.
