You can use the table with skill points per age and per potential to estimate his inner potential.

Then you train him in each of the 4 overall skills for one day (so Athleticism, Accuracy, Defense and Offense) and then pick 1 skill to also train once so you can compare that skill's points with 35 to figure out what % inner potential it has.
