I abstained from getting involved in the discussion or vote since both teams were in my group. It was ruled that allowing a trade like this would open doors to many other trades down the road that would ruin the integrity of the game. For example when a team makes the top 16, they could then proceed to trade all of their talented high salary players to teams in lower leagues to help them promote.
